yep...it's been a while

wow! alot has happened since i blogged last!

Scotty and I took a wonderful trip to Cancun, Mexico. Scotty works very hard at Aramark, and because of his hard work he has earned a trip every year for the past three years. This year was fantastic as always. We got to visit with great friends and best of all - we got a much needed rest!

Theron has also turned THREE! We had a family party at our house where we roasted weenies and marshmallows (so much fun!). She had cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great grandparents there; some great food (aunt 'lisha made some awesome homemade chilie); and a dora cake. We all had a great time. I still at times have a hard time believing she's only three..lol..she already acts about ten ; )..Lord help us!!!

Our nation has elected a new president! As a Christian American i am vowing to pray for our country and for our new president and his family even though i do not embrace his views, and i urge my Christian brothers and sisters to do the same.

May God stir our hearts.

Inspiration in Wal-Mart???

I went to wal-mart this evening before our Chick-lit small group. I was rushing around in there and trying to pick things up for our meeting when i believe the Lord spoke to me (not audably). I asked myself this question: "What if you could share jesus just by the way you push this shopping cart?". This thought imediately changed my attitude. This might sound silly, but i started pushing my cart with purpose and with a smile. I made an effort to make eye contact with the people i was passing (people He died to save). What if i started living every day on purpose? What if i stepped outside of my little world for a few hours each day? What if i could share jesus by the way i drive my car, by the way i discipline my kids, by the way i talk to my husband..??? What if??

Answer to Prayer!

Even though it's only Tuesday this week has been pretty busy/stressful...ha! And if you read the post just below this one you will know that i have been a little stressed out. Well..my prayer was answered today, and it came in the form of italian stalion look alike with a broom. yes..when i got home from my meeting tonight Scotty had straightned the whole house and had the laundry goin too!!!..and all without me asking i might add. yep..he's pretty awesome; im pretty blessed.

grateful wife,

I need a house keeper!!!

Seriously! Our house is a wreck!!! ...no really, a WRECK! dirty laundry is spilling onto the floor in our closet (needs to be washed); clean laundry is spilling on the the floor in our living room (needs to be folded, and now some of it needs to be rewashed..ha!); junk mail, bills, and gibsons notices from school litter the bar and the desk area; the floors desprately need to be swept and mopped; and there are dishes in the sink. See I told you..its bad! And worse than that is we are leaving to go out of town this week and there is no time to clean anywhere in the near future....ugh! I could use one of those robot maids like on the jetsons about now.

okay...it just dawned on me that none of you (whomever you are..lol) care to read about my dirty laundry........ sorry, but im posting it anyway..ha!

"This is gonna hurt me more than it hurts you"

Gibson (age 4) and I were doing his "homework" the other night. This was the fun kind of homework! We had little cards with words of common household items (door, window, table, etc.) on them. I would put tape on the back and help him sound out the word, then he would go and lable the items around the house. I was enjoying this simple activity and he was too. During our "homework" we were just chit chatting, a maybe it was mother's intuition that made me ask THE question. "Have you had to go to timeout, Gibson?"...his answer was "no", and that didnt surprise me. He is ussually a pretty well behaved child--very compliant (his sister is a totally different story..but back to this one). As we continued to talk, he accidentally spilled the beans...he HAD been to timeout!! WHAT??..MY GIBSON IN TIMEOUT??!! NO!!........yes, and for, get this, FIGHTING on the playground!!

Now, on the inside i was very upset. Not only had he gotten in trouble at school, but he had also lied to me about it!! It was difficult, but i kept my compossure and never even indicated by the tone of my voice that i was very upset with him. I was acctually very proud of myself...i simply talked to him about lying and how it's not the right thing to do and told him calmly what his punishment would be. He actually took the revelation that he was about to get a spanking very well too.

Too many times i dont discipline this way. Too often it's out of frustration or out of anger. Im so glad that God is the perfect parent and that He always disciplines me out of love and with wisdom. He knows what's best for me and He wants to see me grow into the image that He has planned for me. Hebrews 12:6-7 says, "because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his child. Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?"

Thank you Lord for loving me enough to keep me on Your potter's wheel. Thank you for not giving up on me even though I need a repeat of the lesson that You've already taught over and over. Help me to understand that discpline is an act of Your great love for me. Give me a heart to administer the same grace to others as you have show to me. Amen.

This is gonna be a crazy week!

I can alredy tell that this week is gonna be crazy! Ever feel like there aren't enough hours in the day??? Sometimes I get bogged down in just the thought of so many things on my "to do" list. I was kinda feeling like that today and then i saw this picture and got grossed out/tickled, and it kinda snapped me out of it. So I thought I would share it and maybe it will have the same effect for you. : )

What a great church!

What a great day! I love Christ Church. A more accurate statement would be "I love Christ Church PEOPLE!".

This morning we recruited volunteers for what we are calling a "oil change outreach". On Sat Oct 18 the people of Christ Church will be reaching outside our walls and giving free oil changes to single moms in our community. We had a wonderful response to this outreach today, and it's always so good to see how much this church loves to serve..loves to love! What dad says is really true, we serve God best when we serve people...and i think CC folk really get this. You guys are awesome!

I continue to be pleasently surprised by how much the 11 o'clock service is growing!!!

We did the ole favorite 'Turn your eyes upon jesus' tonight. There's something about those old songs that takes you to a different place in worship (i'm not quite sure what it is..??...but i like it!). I think it might have something to do with not having to "think" while you worship...the words just come out without effort almost it seems. I deffinately love alot of the current worship, but an 'oldie' from time to time is refreshing i think. What are some of your fav old songs?

Fun at the Fair

We did go to the fair today. We had alot of fun! The kids rode rides and momma and daddy ate..ha!!!

btw...i love this pic. Gib is takin care of his little sis.

Lazy Saturday

Scotty, the kids and I are just hanging around the house today. I LOVE Saturdays! Scotty worked in the yard for a while, Gibson spilled chocolate milk, I read for a while, and Theron got blisters on her feet from a no name brand of crocs (I guess you pay for what you get..lol..that was for carla). Now were are considering going to the fair, but I think you have to be rich to go..ha! Seriously! It's pretty crazy how much that thing cost. I think ill for go riding rides and just eat corn (the corn is my favorite part of the fair!).

Be Praised

I was just thinking about Paul and Silas, wow what praisers they were! Acts 16 tells how they were beaten and imprisoned and then prayed and sang to God as their fellow prisoners were listening. Then the miraculous happened. The walls shook, their chains fell off, and their guard became a believer. They didn't allow their circumstances to dictate whether they'd give glory to God or not. They believed that God is good when life is not, and they praised him according to His greatness. I'd like to have a few more like them in our choir on Sundays...I'd like to be a lot more like them!!! Lord help me be more like them...

Lord, You are great and greatly to be praised. Help me to praise you in spite of difficulties that may arise, and inturn encourage others who are following You. Be Praised!

Winding down

yes..im enjoying a carmel latte right now. i dont think it gets much better than 10 PM, kids bathed and asleep, living room straightened, PJs, a good book, and COFFEE.

im just about to start a new book and im pretty excited about it. Its Ted Dekker's "Sinner". It is about a place where people who worship as they please and say what they believe are suddenly silenced in the name of tolerence. It should be pretty interesting. Sinner is a fiction novel bul it sounds alot like where America is headed.

g'night

Pre-K is so much fun!

Gibson started pre-k this year and he is doing so well! He is the more intraverted of our two children (he's not real fond of large crowds), so I was alittle worried about how he would do at school. I have been pleasently surprised! He has not cried a single time when ive left in the mornings, and he is loving school! Having a new tattoo to show his friends each day hasnt hurt either..ha! (that's a little motivation tactic we learned very quickly) When he has a new tattoo he's wakes up happy and ready to get out the door to show all his friends...im hoping we can get rid of those soon...lol..but oh well..whatever works!

Yesterday was Grandparent Snack Day so my dad took him an ice cream sandwich (his favorite) and had snack with him. The pics are from snack day and if you'll look closely in one Mrs. Hammons (Gib's teacher) caught dad in the background eating...ha!

thanks for reading
